Mick Barr R.I.P.

It has now been arranged for the Hearse to meet any bikes that wish to follow the cortege to the Crematorium at the Little Chef at Thrussington on the A46. You need to be there for around 2pm as the Hears will not wait.

Many of you will have known Mick for many years as both a keen motorcyclist and an enthusiastic Club Member - I'm also sure that many will also be aware that he suffered ill health for many years.

It's my sad duty to inform you that Mick passed away yesterday (16th April). I'm sure all our thoughts are with Glenyse and family at this sad time.

Martin Ellis writes the following to keep you informed:

Mick was in Boston's pilgrim hospital when he finally succumbed, and was in good humour right to the very end.

Although they recently moved to Sleaford, Mick and Glenyse hail from Leicester, so Glenyse has decided that Mick should make one last journey 'home', and he will be cremated at Gilroes Crematorium, Groby Road (A50) Leicester at 15.15hrs on Monday the 28th of April.

Glenyse would like to possibly do something afterwards, but no firm plans have been made yet.

His ashes are to be distributed around one of his favourite haunts, Mallory Park racetrack in Leicestershire (though "Obviously..." as Glenyse said "...not on a race day!").

She's being the same 'handle anything' kind of person we all know her for being (outwardly at least), and has rejected the offer of some solitude, by asking that her phone number be published in case anyone wishes to call for a brief chat. It's a mobile number, so you may also just send a text if you prefer.
(07835) 908540

I also have her home address, and she is happy for that to be distributed should anyone wish to send a card, but I will only make that available on a one-to-one basis, so you will need to PM me or send an e-mail.

It's hoped that there will be some kind of memorial/wake for Mick within the next couple of weeks (Glenyse's idea) and as with all other related matters, I'll let you know more when I can.

She seemed shocked when I told her that there may be a large turnout for the cremation, and appeared not to be aware of just how well known and respected Mick was. I hope that we can give her a pleasant surprise on what will be one of the darkest days of her life, by showing up in large numbers to pay our last respects.

Martin
